Travel Nursing FAQs

Q: What type of facilities will I work at as a travel nurse?

A: For your travel nursing needs 24/7 Staffing Solutions has a variety of opportunities—large to small hospitals, major metro areas to rural communities—and of course, access to the nation's top teaching facilities. With travel nursing, choosing a fast-paced lifestyle or a quiet, peaceful environment is as simple as discussing your preferences with your recruiter.

Q: Will I need more than one license as a travel nurse?

A: You must have a current nursing license in the state of your assignment. 24/7 reimburses the full amount of the licensing application fee. And know that some states have reciprocal acceptance of other states' permanent licenses. (Note: While some state licenses are obtainable in one to two days, other licenses can take 10 weeks, so begin the process early.)

Q: How are the hourly rates for each travel nursing assignment determined?

A: Rates vary with the cost of living for the area. You'll often find travel nurse hourly rates are higher than staff nurse rates due to shift differential, weekend differential, charge pay and other factors.

Q: Are travel nursing assignments always 13 weeks in length?

A: Thirteen weeks is the travel nursing industry standard, but with 24/7 you can often choose 8- to 26-week assignments based on availability.

Q: What is the tax-advantaged program?

A: Our tax-advantaged program provides a way for you to keep more of the money you earn. Please contact our recruitment team for more details.

Q: What does Joint Commission certification mean to me as a travel nurse?

A: The Joint Commission has awarded their Certificate of Distinction to 24/7 Staffing Solutions. This means our promise of delivering quality service comes with an added guarantee - we meet or exceed the standards for the healthcare staffing industry. Many hospitals that receive Joint Commission accreditation now require similar standards for their medical staffing firms. 24/7’s JCAHO certification therefore increases our ability to offer you preferred assignments in more locations.
